17 Oct CATS SWIM MEET HONORS JOSH CHURCH
October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month and some local swimmers will be taking part in a fundraiser this weekend to bring awareness to the issue.
This Friday, October 20th – Sunday, October 22nd, the CATS are hosting a swim meet at Vernon Hills High School. The meet will be called the Josh Church Swim Meet, in honor of the 17-year old student athlete from Warren High School who died tragically last November as a result of a unknown Cardiac Arrhythmia. Joshua was a swimmer, son, brother, grandson, and a friend to all who knew him. Joshua was full of life and love and his story simply ended too soon!
They expect 700 swimmers from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin for the 3 day meet. They will sell purple hats and t-shirts at the meet and the proceeds will benefit the Josh Church Scholarship Fund and Max Schewitz Foundation. In addition, they will be selling tickets to an upcoming fundraiser scheduled on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Primo Italian American Cuisine for $20 which include 5 raffle tickets.
